FSACCI NEWSLETTER - November-December 2017
« Life is too short to drink bad wine ». Thank you very much to Pierre-Yves Sachet, CEO of Total, for having reminded us of how true this sentence is, during his speech at our recent Beaujolais Nouveau celebration in Johannesburg. Made possible thanks to Bolloré, which delivered the wine at no cost to the Chamber, to our sponsors Total and Air France and to our partners (Paul, French Corner, Radisson Blu, Four Seasons, Avene, International SOS), this event was a huge success. From the feedback I received, the attendees thoroughly enjoyed this networking and social evening. Likewise, the Capetonians enjoyed this wine celebration in their town, the following day. Thanks to Bolloré, Air France, Polyglot, Bridor and Car Protection Services for sponsoring the Cape Town event. As the French artist Brassens once said, « the best wine is not necessarily the most expensive one, but the one we share ».
At FSACCI, we think that (to paraphrase Pierre-Yves) the year is too short to forget that business time can also be a pleasant time. That is what, at least we try to achieve by arranging networking events like the Beaujolais celebration, with people from all horizons with new and different perspectives.
I trust that the workshops we organised in the last weeks, with Peter Leon from Herbert Smith Freehills on « Investment protection in South Africa » and with Lucien Pierce from PPM on the « POPI Act » were appreciated for their quality. I am delighted to welcome tonight, as speakers at one of our last events of the year, two highly respected analysts of BNP Paribas, Nicholas Borain and Jeffrey Schultz, for an expert view of the business stakes behind the ANC 54th national conference. Do not miss this FSACCI event hosted by Mazars. We all know that « it is not only at the bottom of a bottle that one can find good answers »…
2017 Beaujolais Nouveau Celebrations were a great success thanks to the 530 attendees' support and energy. Without our sponsors, this event would not have been possible and we would like to highlight them once again. Bolloré Logistics proudly delivered the 780 bottles of wine you enjoyed at the party. Total South Africa is historically a great sponsor and we know that we can rely on their support. France was once again "in the air" thanks to Air France in Johannesburg and Cape Town. In Jo'burg, we enjoyed Paul Bakery Bread and the great catering of French Corner; in Cape Town the bread from FSACCI new member Bridor bakeries. In Cape Town, we were also very glad that Polyglot Group joins us as a sponsor for the first year. We do not forget, last but not least, the companies who offered prizes for the raffle: Bolloré Logistics, Radisson Blu, Four Seasons The Westcliff, Paul Bakery Café, Avene-Pierre Fabre, Bridor and International SOS. Thank you very much to all of you.
We would like to also higlight those who helped us in the organisation: Alexandre Barrière (Car protection services) who did a great job in Cape Town, the Embassy of France to South Africa and the Consulates, Joburg Accueil and the Frenchies, BNP Paribas, EDF South Africa and Capago.
